Geographic Information System and Mapping

The City of Alliance maintains a computer based mapping system called a Geographic Information System or GIS. The GIS allows City staff to access information about the City utilizing different map layers. Layers include the city limit boundaries, zoning districts, water and sewer main information, electric primary lines, and other utilities in the City. The GIS brings all of these layers together in one mapping environment allowing the user to select which layers are important to them. This easy access to data allows us to help citizens in a more timely manner than was possible in the past when working with paper maps. It is our goal to keep the information in the GIS as current as possible in an effort to maintain an accurate representation of each layer.
