  1. Spring Into Reading Contest

    March 1, 2017, 8:00 AM - April 29, 2017, 5:00 PM @ Alliance Public Library

    Contest is open to all kids grades K through 4. For each book kids check out and read from the easy fiction, juvenile fiction and juvenile non-fiction, they will fill out a kite to place on the wall with the child's classroom. The classroom with the most books read by May 5 will win a special party! Home school families are also encouraged to participate and will work together to win a special party at the library.

  1. Box Butte Avenue Streetscape Project

    April 3, 2017, 8:00 AM - September 15, 2017, 5:00 PM @ Box Butte Avenue

    Construction will begin on the Box Butte Avenue Streetscape project April 3. Construction will begin on the west side of the 300 block of Box Butte Avenue and will then move to the east side of the block. This portion of the project is expected to be complete prior to Heritage Days. Following Heritage Days, construction will begin on the west side of the 400 block of Box Butte Avenue.

  1. NE150 Quilt Challenge

    January 23, 2017, 8:00 AM - August 1, 2017, 5:00 PM @ Knight Museum and Sandhills Center

    In conjunction with the Nebraska Statehood 150th celebration, the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center and the Museum Partners are sponsoring a quilt challenge which is open to anyone with Nebraska connections. The entry fee is $15 per kit with a limited number of kits available. Completed quilts must be submitted for entry at the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center at 908 Yellowstone on or before August 1, 2017. Quilts will be judged and prizes will be awarded for the following categories: • Best use of challenge fabric • Best use of “NE150” patch • Best use of Nebraska theme • Viewer’s choice • Youth division (ages 8 – 18 as of March 1) All quilts will be exhibited at the Box Butte County Fair, Nebraska State Fair and the Knight Museum and Sandhills Center. This event has been approved as an official event of the Nebraska Sesquicentennial.
